Our Awards

Investors in Diversity

We have been awarded the Investors in Diversity Bronze mark from the Irish Centre for Diversity! We are delighted that our Company has been acknowledged for its continued commitment to fostering an empowering workplace for all our colleagues to be their authentic selves. The Investors in Diversity Award is a nationally recognised diversity accreditation that celebrates excellence in this area.

Monaghan is keen to build on its strong foundation. Senior Management has led the way in attending awareness sessions and these will be rolled out throughout the organisation.  As a company, we will continue to recognise the contribution of all people and create a supportive workplace, where everyone is integrated and respected.

Our Investors in Diversity journey and achievement of the standard gives a positive message to all our stakeholders, both internal and external of our commitment in this area.

Monaghan Whitley won a Marks & Spencers Select Farm Award!

Monaghan Whitley was recently nominated by Marion Byrne in the Low Impact category for the Marks and Spencers Select Farm awards. We are delighted that Whitley has been announced as the regional winner of the Low Impact Award in the M&S Select Farm awards 2023!

As the Low Impact award category winner for England and Wales, the judges commended Whitley for their outstanding efforts and for setting a high standard for others in the industry to follow.

Our Whitley Farm supplies 55-60% of all M&S conventional mushrooms. The farm consists of 36 mushroom-growing tunnels and employs 220 people.  Specific key steps were taken in our energy reduction plan which helped achieve this status, such as employing a range of technologies that have enabled Whitley to reduce their energy consumption by 20%, year-on-year.

In addition to reducing its carbon footprint, the farm donated over 459 crates to a local Fare Share charity depot in Barnsley in 2022 and has continued to do so in 2023, reducing food waste and supporting those in need in the local community.

This means Whitley is even further recognised by M&S as a Farm that has demonstrated leadership in reducing our environmental impact.

M&S Select Farmers are renowned leaders in promoting low-impact farming. Monaghan Whitley has wholeheartedly embraced this ethos for a long time, and their continued commitment to these standards should be truly admired.
