When did you start with Monaghan?
I started with Monaghan in June 2003. Back in Ukraine, I was doing my PhD and also teaching part-time at an Agricultural University and truly enjoyed working in academics, but I always had a curiosity to explore the world beyond the classroom. I wanted to experience something completely different, both professionally and culturally. That’s when an opportunity came up with Monaghan in England, and I decided to take a leap of faith and begin a new chapter as a harvester. It was a big change from teaching to agriculture, but I embraced the challenge. After gaining a few years of experience and understanding the operations, I took up the opportunity to move to Monaghan Canada in August 2010 which opened even more doors for growth.
What other jobs have you done with Monaghan?
I began my journey as a harvester, and over time, I was given the opportunity to become QC then a harvester trainer where I supported and mentored new employees joining the team. My interest in learning how different departments function led me to work in Quality Control. Each role helped me better understand how everything connects together to ensure a successful operation. Eventually, I transitioned into the Human Resources department, where I have now been working for the past 10 years. Having worked across so many departments has given me a unique perspective and valuable insight into both operations and people.

There have been many challenges over the years – whether related to people, operations, or processes – but there’s a real sense of satisfaction that comes from overcoming them as a team. One of the most unforgettable experiences was during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was an unprecedented time that required quick decisions, adaptability, and constant communication. Working in Human Resources, particularly in recruitment and employee services, allowed me to see firsthand how employees were impacted both professionally and personally. It reinforced my belief that people are truly the greatest asset of any organization.
